WARNING: WESTGATE PARK CITY IS A SCAM!

This from a recent visitor to the Westgate Park City, and very impressive numbers we might add.

We sat through a 2 hour high pressure sales pitch at the Westgate Park City Resort & Spa last week. At the end we were told the price for a 900 square foot 1 bedroom unit was $38,000 (that's with a special "today only" 5% discount). For that we were guaranteed 8 days and 7 nights usage BUT we couldn't be guaranteed what week we could use it but that the 1st week in March wasn't their busy time so that "shouldn't be a problem."

However, the fine print at the bottom of the page said week 9 (the first week in March) would cost an extra $10,000 and that weeks 51 and 52 an extra $20,000. So 49 x $38,000 + 1 x $48,000 + 2 x $58,000 means Westgate will collect $2,026,0000 for a 900 square foot apartment which works out to $2251/square foot or about double what Westgate owner David Seigel's house

reportedly will cost.

Run, don't walk, away from this.

I bought a timeshare(ha ha) from Westgate Park City. The first couple of years were great. I have not been able to book my time since 2005. I bought the ski season. I tried to book my 2006-2008 week for the season of 2009 today 5-11-2008. Nothing available... again. I just get the complete run around everytime I call spending hours on the phone. I have unused unusable weeks from 2006 to present. Westgate is a scam! What legal action can I take? Email me at eyesea777@gmail.com with any class action lawsuits or other cases pending. I am a single mom who purchased this so that I could take one nice vacation with my child a year. Now I pay for that vacation but we are unable to go anywhere. This is just wrong!!!!

Westgate sales staff are not licensed in any way shape or form, so they have no ethical bounds. PLEASE check resales as a wakeup call for anyone considering one. We BOUGHT a resale annual 2/2 floating ski week at Westgate Park City because we ski / snowboard, and only paid a fraction of the Westgate asking price.

We are happy with the deal, as for the annual cost of maintenance fee we get a very nice 2/2 slopeside for our family. I could rent it out for more than the annual fee.

You DO have to reserve this property FAR IN ADVANCE to get the week you want. I have read about people who are naive about this and claim you can't use it. We reserve ours at least 6 months ahead.

Westgate corporate reservations is a horrible experience, as they screwed out reservation this year after spending about an hour on the phone, and since you can't see what the rep is doing, you have to trust. We arrived and were told we only had 1/2 of our 2/2 reserved. After raising hell, we got our room but got my blood pressure up.

However, the vacation is super fun at the slopes and we enjoy it. I do worry about the way Westgate is run and the ongoing financial stability of the company that has fleeced so many people.

If you are looking to buy or sell I can recommend our realtor, for honest and no-rip off advice. They really helped us when Westgate tried to screw us by changing our ownership to value week even though our purchase was years ago and a fairly small sale commission. I don't have any relationship but customer but they really went to bat for us and are a place that can buy/sell in legitimate deals. They are licensed realtors.

We were lured into a 90 minute time share presentation at West Gate Park City Utah. The payback was 2 ski passes for Deer Park at 130 day for a ski pass the time investment was a good payback (gift). We listened and were treated with respect by all staff. No pressure or sales pitch. We told them we would think about it and would check out the reviews. They politely gave us our ski passes and we were on our way. By the way we do not plan on buying a timeshare anywhere!
